A vehicle's brakes are one of its most important safety features, and we want to make sure that Giddeons Automotive customers stay safe. Whether your brake pads are signaling they need replacement, your brake light is on, or you're not comfortable with how quickly your vehicle is slowing down, call us at 678-494-6473 or visit us in Woodstock and we'll give you a prompt diagnosis of your braking system's safety and reliability.
Brake Pad and Shoe Replacement
Brake pad problems can usually be identified by squealing brakes. If your brake pads deteriorate completely, you'll hear a grinding metal-on-metal sound when braking, meaning that it's too late and you're ruining your rotors or drums! Those with knowledge of auto repair may be able to fix this at home, but you should always see an auto repair professional immediately if you have brake problems.
In a disc brake system, rotors are attached to your vehicle's wheels. When the brake pads grip the rotor, they bring both the rotor and wheels to a stop. However, the friction causes grooves and cracks to appear over time. Resurfacing brings the rotor back to a "like-new" condition, reducing squealing and wobbling. Giddeons Automotive will give your rotors a thorough inspection and recommend your best course of action.
The brake caliper houses your brake pads and fits around the rotor like a clamp, pressing the pads against the rotor when you brake. A brake caliper problem could cause uneven braking, making your car slide forward when you brake. Uneven braking can also cause your vehicle to slide out of control in bad weather conditions, so contact Giddeons Automotive as soon as possible.
A brake hose is a tube carrying pressurized brake fluid from the master cylinder to the brakes. A crushed hose can cause a lagged or slow brake, and a leak in the hose can cause the brake, or the entire brake system, to fail. These don't need to be replaced often, but should be replaced at the first sign of cracking or wear.
Brake Fluid Flushes
Brake fluid will absorb water from the air over time, causing the brake system to become less effective and the fluid to become corrosive, possibly damaging the system. It is important to perform a brake fluid flush regularly to ensure that your vehicle is using fresh fluid. Talk to our technicians at Giddeons Automotive about when it's time for a brake fluid flush.
Anti-Lock Brake System
Anti-lock Brake Systems (ABS) ensure that the wheels don't stop rotating during braking, preventing the car from skidding and offering greater control. If your ABS light comes on, visit Giddeons Automotive where we will be happy to diagnose and fix the problem.
This is the first time an auto service shop has earned my trust in over 20 years. I've taken both of my cars to them over the past 4 years and they have ALWAYS been up-front and honest with me... even when the RIGHT thing to do doesn't make them any money. One of my cars recently had a catastrophic failure and Giddeons diagnosed and gave me the bad news. Due to the significant cost I took the car to another shop for a second opinion which (no surprise to me) confirmed what Giddeons told me. Giddeons did a great job getting the car back on the road again and I'm still happy to call them my trusted auto shop.
They take very good care of our cars and are reasonable on their prices. They also turn them around pretty fast if we book an appointment.
I've never taken any of my cars anywhere else. Honest service and really good people who are genuinely always there to help.
Really nice place! The person who rung me up was very polite. I went in for a tire rotation which was 20 bucks. I decided to wait inside and to my surprise the waiting area/pay area was very nice and classy. Would recommend this shop.
Technology (google) helped me find this place but amazing service keeps me coming back year after year. In the 4 years I have lived in Woodstock I have brought all 5 of the family cars here with issues from tire alignment to cracked cylinders. They always approach the solution with my budget and the safety of my family in mind.
I was in the process of searching for a "new" used vehicle, and I would have Giddeons do the inspections (They would do a basic inspection first where they wouldn't charge me if the vehicle wasn't in good enough condition to continue to be inspected... Happened every time except twice). They treated the process as if they were the ones buying the vehicle. I must have called them a hundred times with questions I had about vehicles, and they never got frustrated with me. Without Giddeons I wouldn't have found a vehicle in nearly as good of condition as the one I'm driving now. If you're looking for a mechanic go to Giddeons. They won't let you down. Thanks again for going above and beyond for me!
